A lipoma is a soft lump under the skin, that is due to a build-up of fat cells, and can appear anywhere on the body.

They are usually painless but can cause discomfort when they become larger and require lipoma removal. The vast majority of lipomas are benign and do not present any issues apart from aesthetic ones. They can be removed easily through surgical intervention.
