Breast Enlargement – Breast Augmentation

Breast Enlargement, or breast augmentation, also known as ‘boob job’, is a surgical procedure that involves insertion of breast implants in order to enhance the size and shape of the breasts.

Small or less shapely breasts may be genetic, or as a result of weight loss, ageing or pregnancy and can leave you feeling self-conscious. Whatever the reason for choosing breast enlargement, the change in breast size and shape can have a profound impact on your body image and self confidence. A pre-operative assessment will establish your personal goals and outline the procedure itself, including the type and approximate size of the implants, any pre-treatment and post-operative advice and ensure that you complete a fully informed consent form.

Breast Enlargement Procedure

On the day of the breast enlargement surgery in Chester or The Wirral, a range of photographs will be taken and Miss Breahna will draw on the breasts, marking the points of incision. The incisions are generally made in one of three main places to ensure discrete scarring: in the creases beneath the breast (Inframammary), around the areola (Periareolar), or in the armpit (Transaxillary). The breast implant is then inserted either between the breast tissue and the chest muscle, or under the chest muscle, followed by closing-up of the incisions and dressings being applied.

Breast Enlargement Recovery

After the breast enlargement surgery, you should expect to stay in the hospital overnight. Upon being discharged from the hospital you will be given painkillers to take home and an appointment will be made for your first dressing, usually 7 – 10 days after surgery.

Miss Breahna maintains high standards of after care at her breast enlargement clinics in Chester and The Wirral for you as her patient, and will arrange follow up appointments at around 1 week, 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months post surgery, closely monitoring your physical well-being.

Frequently asked questions

There are several reasons why you may choose breast augmentation: naturally small breasts, genetic conditions such as breast asymmetry or tuberous breasts, or changes in the breasts due to weight loss or following childbirth. A full pre-operative assessment will determine if any breast enlargement is suitable for you, as well as addressing the reasons for wanting surgery and your intended goals.

Breast enlargement is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures across the world. The implants used are of high quality and are approved for safety by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Any concerns can be discussed at a full pre-operative assessment.

breast enlargement treatment is performed under general anaesthetic and a course of suitable pain relief will be prescribed to help make healing and recovery much more comfortable.

Frequent risks include swelling, bruising, tenderness and temporary numbness. Infrequent complications are infections, bleeding, asymmetry, capsular contracture and implant rupture. It may take up to 12 weeks for the final results to develop, with scars continuing to improve over 18 months.

breast enlargement procedure may incur a period of 2 weeks recovery time to allow for successful healing, and time off work may be required. Driving will be possible after 2 weeks. It may need up to 3 weeks before travelling abroad and up to 12 weeks before returning to the gym.
